SPARK!
This is one of my all-time favorite doujinshis. The artwork in it is really professional-looking and well-done. The picture of Kenshin on the cover is one of my favorite pictures of him, it just looks so cool! I have a very vague, distant recollection of this doujinshi being done by the Kai Ogata circle (keep in mind that I could just be pulling that name out of my ass). Whatever circle it was it also did the doujinshi Break!, which is another really good one. I bought this doujinshi during my trip to Japan. I was debating whether I even wanted to scan this one since the binding gets damaged in the process, but as you can see I decided to do it. This doujinshi is a series of gag stories, most of which I can't understand. Unfortunately, because of my scanner, some of these pictures have thick gray lines going down them, but it's not that bad. |

This is the opening page for the doujinshi. It's a really nice picture of Kenshin as his normal peaceful self and as Battousai.
In this story the Kenshin-gumi are settling down to eat but when Kenshin sees that their meal includes a certain kind of food (I can't tell if it's some kind of biscuit or dumpling) he panics. When asked what's troubling him, he explains that it's connected to his childhood studies w/ Hiko. Apparently Hiko used this food to (somehow) scare young Kenshin. In this picture Kenshin recalls a memory in which the dumplings are actually bearing down on him (though most likely this is little Kenshin's imagination getting the best of him). After finishing his story Kenshin winds up running into Saitou, who gives him a box of the same dumplings *sweatdrop*.
As usual I can't tell what this story is about. It seems like Shishio, Yumi and Soujirou are having some fun at the expense of Houji though.
This is from a story featuring Aoshi and Misao, although I'm not sure which parts are real and which are a part of Misao's imagination/memories. In this picture she and Aoshi share a heartfelt embrace.
This is from the same story as the last one, and clearly there was some sort of transition in the plot that I missed, cause now there's a baby and Aoshi is in hysterics over it. In the next page which isn't scanned he runs off with the baby, leaving behind a very pissed off Misao.
On the left of this page Soujiro is showing off his legs to Shishio and Houji, who seem kind of weirded out. On the right are Fuji and Hiko having a stare down.
I don't know what the story on the left is about other than it involves the moment in Kenshin's battle with Shishio when Shishio bites him. I love the story on the right though. It's right after Saitou defeats Usui and pins the upper half of his body to the wall with his sword. At first Saitou is smirking, until he realizes that he somehow has to get his sword down off of the ceiling. I also think it's funny how they show Usui's soul leaving his body.
I scanned both of the two pages of this story cause I thought it was a funny concept. It involves Kenshin and Sanosuke going to school in modern times, but they're still wearing their old-fashioned clothing. Sano doesn't seem to mind but Kenshin feels very uncomfortable.
Kenshin and Sano then run into Hiko, who is wearing a modern Japanese schoolgirl outfit. The three of them then walk off into the sunset.
Just a nice picture at the end of the doujinshi of Saitou with an umbrella looking very solom.
