Now, go to your layers palette and change the blending mode of the top layer to Lighten and you should get something like this...

Select your bottom layer and go up top to Filter --> Distort --> Twirl and set the angle to around 215.

Once that's all done, go up top to Layer --> Flatten Image and then go to Image --> Adjustments --> Auto Contrast so that the colors look more sharp.

Now we must add some color. Go to Image --> Adjustments --> Hue/Saturation, check the Colorize box and mess around with the settings to get the color you want. I choose blue.

Almost done. Now go to Filter --> Blur --> Gaussian Blur and use the defalt setting of 3.0. And finally, go to Edit --> Fade Gaussian Blur and choose Overlay in the drop down menu (note: in some older versions of Photoshop Fade Gaussian Blur might be located under Filter). And you're done! This is my result.
